100% Pure Aloe Vera Gel
I buy from: Local pharmacies
This is great to sooth sore skin and it makes a nice lubricant for hairless guinea pigs to keep their skin supple and healthy.

Avipro Probiotic Powder
I buy from: Sph Supplies
This is dissolved in the water supply to reduce tummy ache in guinea pigs receiving antibiotics. Antibiotics upset the natural flora in the gut and the probiotic helps to settle any uneasiness this may cause your pet. I also use it to settle upset tummies in general.

Canesten Cream
I buy from: Local pharmacies
This is an anti-fungal cream I use for a variety of fungal problems, including fungal skin ailments, and the overproduction of yeast in bottoms.

Cornflour
I buy from: Local supermarkets
Cornflour stops the bleeding if I cut a nail to low. It works by clotting the wound when the nail is dipped into it.

Cotton buds and pads
I buy from: Local pharmacies
These are a must for cleaning up wounds. Only use plain buds and pads, not the ones that are treated with something.

Daktarin
I buy from: Local pharmacies
On the advice of my vet, I use Daktarin to clear up fungal infections around the mouth.

Gorgeous Guineas Lice 'n' Easy Shampoo
I buy from:
Gorgeous Guineas
This shampoo helps to keep lice at bay! It's natural and does the job without lots of chemicals.

Hibiscrub
I buy from: My vet supplies me (also see
Sph Supplies)
Hibiscrub is a bright pink disinfectant used by vets before surgery and between consultations. I keep a bottle of this in to disinfect fungal skin problems before applying an anti-fungal cream.

Kamillosan Cream
I buy from: Local pharmacies
I use this for superficial skin wounds such as scrapes and sore patches. It's used for nursing human females to sooth sore nipples, but it heals wounds on guinea pig skin very quickly for some reason!

Mycil Athlete's Foot Cream
I buy from: Local pharmacies
Athlete's foot cream can be used to clear up mild fungal infections of the skin. If this isn't strong enough, try Daktarin and if that doesn't work go to Canesten.

Optrex
I buy from: Local pharmacies
I use this for sore eyes that have been poked or scratched. It's also useful for hairless guinea pigs where ingrown eyelashes may rub against the eyeball.

Oxbow Critical Care
I buy from: My vet supplies me (also see the
Oxbow site and Sph Supplies)
I keep this to feed to convalescing guinea pigs or guinea pigs that are seriously ill. Please ask your vet about Oxbow Critical Care. As an alternative, we also make our own similar paste by putting a selection of fresh vegetables, Burgess Supa Guinea Excel pellets and water through a blender.

Plastic blunt ended syringes
I buy from:
Sph Supplies
I use 1ml syringes for administering oral prescription medications given to me by my vet, and I also use them for flushing wounds with distilled water. 10ml syringes can be used for feeding the Oxbow Critical Care paste.

Sudocrem
I buy from: Local pharmacies
Designed to ease nappy rash in human babies, Sudocrem can help to prevent chapping in guinea pigs with dry and cracked lips. Rub this in gently but thoroughly when using around the mouth.

Swarfega
I buy from:
B&Q (also see other DIY stores)
Swarfega is a gel that mechanics use to remove grease. I use Swarfega to clean the grease glands on my boars. Please see Doris's guide to cleaning grease glands to learn how to do it.

Vicks VapoRub
I buy from: Local pharmacies
The vet suggested rubbing Vicks VapoRub under the chin to ease breathing difficulties. Rub it in far away from the mouth so it can't be reached and licked off.
