hi
we all have our own ways of bathing our piggies and you really have to just find out whats best for you and carlos i bathe geoffrey in the bath with about an inch of warm water a towel on the bottom of the bath helps too, i use the shower on the gentle setting on geoffrey as he prefers it to having water poured on him, i do his grease gland with swarfeger comb through then rinse it off, give his bits and bobs a wipe tip warm water and cosmetic pads, i then give him a shampoo(im using baby shampoo but you can get shampoo for guineas from you local pet shop) and rinse then he gets a nice warm towel rub down then a blow dry with the hairdryer which he loves italk to him the whole time just to reassure him some do their piggies in the sink with a towel in it |

I used to do my piggies in the sink, but they soon got big enough to be able to leap out and grab hold of me, I'd end up soaked and they'd get chilly! Daft tykes! (Just after giving mummy a hug, bless them!
![]() I too give them a bath, in a bout an inch and a half of warm (not hot) water. I wet their hair using a jug or cup, as they don't like out new shower (akward pigs ), then I shampoo them (I use gorgeous guineas: http://www.gorgeousguineas.com/ we have 'Just for Boars, as my two (soon to be four) are boars ). I then rinse, using the jug/cup, then snuggle them in a nice big towel.Usually I use a hair drier to dry them, but they didn't want it last time. So we had a lovely cuddle wrapped up in towels for about 45 mins, before Pythagoras nibbled my top to tell me he wanted a wee. They're indoor piggies so I wasn't worried about them getting chilly. If they were out door i'd have made sure they were properly dry before popping them in their hutch. I tend to bath mine every 6-8 weeks, or when they start to look and feel grubby. As for their grease glands I tend to do them as and when they need doing, usually once a week-once a fortnight. I dont use a hair drier then, and only their rumps get wet, not all over. After a bath I will usually trim their nails if they need doing, this link to the main website is really usfull for knowing how and when to clip nails-thanks PigPog! http://www.rodentswithattitude.co.uk...lclipping.html Good luck bathing Carlos, and don't forget to take some cute pigtures of him all wet and soapy!

How I do it.
I bath mine in the bath aswell (tried the sink, one jumped out and almost landed on the floor, very frightning) -I fill a bucket with clean just warm water and use the jug used to fill a steam iron, I use a dolls bath to put the piggie in and pour warmish water over so it just covers their bits - till they are nice and wet - then lift the piggie out to a seperate part of the bath and shampoo and rinse with the water from the bucket. Make sure you have everything you need before hand, shampoo, lots of towels and a box or carrier to put clean piggie in (if you have two and need to bath the 2nd one, or 3rd and 4th in my case) |

I think they all try to jump out of buckets. Try them in the bath. Mind you Victor very nearly managed to jump out of the bath into my arms...going for the high jump record, that boy

I just bathed my boys for the first time, what fun! I used an old washing up bowl as their 'bath' and since it's such a hot day I bathed them in their run, that way if they jumped out they couldn't get lost. I've towel dried them then just letting them play in the sun to dry. Not sure they enjoyed the experience but they were well behaved especially since it's their first time! :-)

aw- that's nice. I usually have trouble bathing my girls (wriggling and jumping about) but today they actually 'enjoyed' it and after a cuddle in their towel they went out in the shade in their run to dry off. It was warm and so they dried quickly but I think it kept them cool too.

I have a tuff tube, you know those big rubber tubs from the garden centre?
Well one of those and it hold water and then can also be used as a laundry basket, I then put a towel over half the bucket and they cant jump out. using a small tea cup I tip water over them and then wash them with pets at home small pets shampoo, I was shampoo keep the water off their heads and ears, then rinse put them in a towel lined box to dry off, rubbing them over with the edges of the towel linging the box I find its better than trying to hold them. |
